Jess joined the Colby community in August 2018. In her role as the Associate Dean of Students she oversees the offices that make up the Campus Life department while serving on a variety of cross functional committees (Bias Incident Prevention Response, Enrollment Management, Dining Advisory) and leading collaborative initiatives like the New Student Orientation and the First Year Experience pilot. Jess has 20 years of experience working in student affairs across a variety of functional areas; residence life, fraternity and sorority affairs, and student leadership development. Prior to joining Colby, Jess worked at Lehigh University overseeing assessment, strategic planning and professional staff development for their Student Affairs Division. Jess is a proud transplant to Maine from Pennsylvania, where she attended Penn State for her undergraduate degree before moving to Virginia to get her Master’s degree from James Madison University. Jess is currently finishing her doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership Studies from Northeastern University in Boston. When not on campus Jess loves spending time with her two dogs, a yellow Labrador named Lola and Golden Retriever named Dozer.
As the Director of Residential Education, Dan Cline, oversees the student residential experience on campus including leadership of the Hall Staff (Area Residence Directors and Community Advisors) team. He joined the Colby community in July 2020 with over ten years of progressive experience in college and university student housing programs at small liberal arts institutions. Prior to joining Colby, Dan had supported student growth and development as the Assistant Director of Residence Life at Curry College (Milton, MA), and in Area Coordinator positions (Residence Life) at Baldwin Wallace University (Berea, OH) and Elizabethtown College (Elizabethtown, PA). Dan attended The University of Rhode Island for both his undergraduate (BA, History) and graduate (MS, College Student Personnel) degrees. Originally from Rhode Island, Dan and his family now call Sidney, Maine their home. He enjoys going to concerts, cheering on the Red Sox and the Pats, traveling (especially to Disney World), and exploring the local area with his wife (Andrea) and two young children (Austin and Caleb).
Mike Blasco is the Assistant Director Of Housing Operations at Colby and oversees all logistical processes related to housing on campus. He is passionate about supporting students in their residential experiences while on campus and has over 7 years of experience working in higher education and housing in both Maine and New Hampshire. Prior to coming to Colby College, Mike worked in Residential Education where he oversaw and supported student staff in personal development. While working in Residential Education, he developed and implemented different move in and check out processes as well as different housing selection processes. When away from campus, Mike enjoys spending time on his motorcycle and going on nature walks with his dog Tesla.
Nathan (He/Him) joined Colby in 2018 and is passionate about cultivating inclusive communities for our students to explore their passions, thrive creatively, and lead courageously. With his Masters in Counseling in Student Development in Higher Education from Central Connecticut State University and 10+years of experience in Higher Education, he works to provide experiential opportunities for our students to learn & foster their leadership skills, develop cultural awareness and appreciation for one’s self and others. Nathan is a creative and outdoorsy individual, who in his spare time enjoys working on pallet wood projects and exploring Maine with his dog Finnegan, who can be seen around the office from time to time.
SJ (she/her) joined the Campus Life team in 2021. She oversees the Colby Outdoor Orientation Trip (COOT) program, supervises the Outing Club, Mountaineering Club, Aidan’s Climbing Wall and all Colby facilities that support Outdoor Education programming. Before coming to Colby, SJ worked as an outdoor educator and administrator for NOLS and Bowdoin College (where she is an alum). SJ loves to instruct in various technical outdoor disciplines (in addition to the leadership curriculum), and has been certified in sea kayaking, telemark skiing, backpacking, canyoneering, climbing, whitewater kayaking, canoeing and rafting. As a registered Maine Guide, Wilderness First Responder and Leave No Trace Master Educator, she supports students in pursuit of professional outdoor opportunities. SJ and her husband are currently building a house in Bowdoinham, ME.
Danielle has been a part of the Campus Life team and a welcoming face for the office for 6 years. Not only does Danielle oversee all basic administrative duties, she also supervises the student run Coffee house and Yearbook. She is a great resource for students on campus and is always available to help. Before coming to Colby she worked for Maine Development Foundation, a non-profit organization in Augusta Maine. Danielle enjoys time with her family and pets when not at work.
