Calendar of Religious Holidays at Colby

The list that follows includes major festivals and holy days for religious traditions observed by members of the Colby community. Please let Dean Kate Smanik know if you’d like us to add a holy day from your tradition or if you spot a discrepancy in our calendar.

Notes: Cultural patterns of observance may vary by region or by sect. The Islamic calendar is lunar and the days begin at sunset, so there may be one-day error depending on when the new moon is first seen. Dates marked with a double asterisk (**) mark occasions on which a particular tradition includes work restrictions which may impact academic activities.  Holidays indicated as Christian include Roman Catholic and Protestant traditions, the Orthodox Christian calendar uses slightly different dates as indicated below.
