The staff at Health Services realize the importance of healthy eating and exercise. Not only will proper nutrition and frequent exercise make your body feel better, but they will also help you perform better in your studies. Eating well can be difficult among the stresses of academic work, sports, activities, and an active social life, but a proper diet will help you to excel in all of these areas. Health Services can help students find a dietician in the local Waterville area for nutrition related care.
A variety of free, self-care medications are available in the health center entrance. We also offer free condoms and dental dams in the health center. Before using any of these products, check all product warnings. The Colby Bookstore carries a variety of over-the-counter medications and first-aid supplies.
We offer orthopedic assessment evaluations as well as referrals to our sports medicine department for sports related injuries. Physical Therapy services are available on campus and referrals for this are available through Health Services.
Many students travel abroad while at Colby College. Health Services provides information and immunization recommendations to prepare students for healthy and safe travel. To schedule an appointment, call 207-859-4460. All appointments should be made 4-6 weeks prior to the due date of your paperwork. You should bring any vaccination records that you may have from previous travel to your consultation.
Health Services appointments can be scheduled by phone, 207-859-4460, during office hours Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We can generally accommodate same-day visits for acute illnesses and injuries. Routine travel visits, physical exams, or gynecological appointments will be scheduled 1-2 weeks in advance. Most appointments last 30-60 minutes from check in to check out, so please allow yourself time when you are scheduling. Whenever possible, we try to honor requests for specific providers.
Schedule an appointment by phone during the office hours listed above.
Cancellations and reschedules can be made by phone or by emailing the Health Center. We request that you notify the clinic 24 hours in advance, when possible. This opens your appointment time to other students.
While we are happy to assist concerned others (parents, faculty/staff, peers) with referring a student to Health Services, we require students to contact us directly to schedule their own appointments.
