College Committees

  • Oversees the curriculum and all
  • educational policy.

  • Oversees infractions of academic integrity
  • Students provide input on cases of dishonesty regarding the following:
    • Plagiarism
  • Academic integrity is the practice of being honest in all your academic endeavors. It includes:
    • Giving credit to everyone whose work you rely on.
    • Clearly distinguishing between your work and others’ work.
    • Following course rules designed to help you and others learn and be accurately assessed on your learning.
    • Being careful and thorough in your research and in communicating the results of your research.

  • Oversees the management and organization of the school budget.

  • 5 students
  • Meets every Monday, 4-5 PM
  • Oversees the co-curricular program, and formulates and recommends policies concerning student life to appropriate bodies (e.g. to Faculty and to SGA), excluding curriculum and academic requirements.

  • 8 students (including at least 2 seniors, 2 juniors, and 2 sophomores. Recommendations submitted by the Student Government Association based on application process)

  • Presides over cases involving nonacademic wrongdoing and recommends specific action to the Dean of Students. The Student Conduct Board schedule is determined as cases are brought before the board.

  • Provides ITS with student opinions regarding technology concerns, increasing technological accessibility, and how to augment the overall ITS experience for students.

    Aids in developing and recommending policy regarding foreign and domestic off-campus study to the appropriate college bodies
  • Reviews periodic reports from the director of off-campus study regarding:
    • Evaluations of programs
    • The status of Colby programs abroad and any changes made in these programs
    • OCS advising and the integration of off-campus study with department and interdisciplinary program curricula
    • Makes recommendations for action on student applications with regards to off-campus study
    • Hears and acts on appeals from students who wish to contest the disposition of their application for off-campus study
    • Meets once a year with OCS faculty and student liaisons to discuss general issues relating to off-campus study

  • Students on this committee will represent the student opinion in conversations with Security and Campus Life.
  • This committee also addresses student parking ticket appeals

SGA Student-Led Committees

  • Addresses the state of dining services, looks over dining hall review cards, and discusses requests made by students.

  • Addresses student demands concerning housing, apartments placements (Alfond Apartments and Alfond Commons), and overall housing policies.

  • Works to build a community between students living in the Downtown Commons and students living on campus.
  • Aids in the student body’s acclimation to the new official housing off campus.

  • Oversees the approvals of new clubs on campus, consolidates old clubs, and ensures proper club registration occurs.

  • Meets: Every other Wednesday 8-9PM in the SGA office
  • Focuses on and brainstorms ways to creatively publicize the activities and events of SGA (ones that SGA hosts as well as ones that SGA sponsors).

  • Focuses on the planning and execution of current Colby student traditions (e.g. Fall Ball, Spontaneous Fun Day, Doghead, Admitted Students Weekend, etc).
  • Discusses the creation of new traditions and the reinstatement of old traditions.
