Hi everyone! My name is Ellie Batchelder and I am psyched to serve as one of the Co-Presidents for the Class of 2022 this year. At Colby, I am an Environmental Policy and Government double major and am specifically interested in issues of marine fisheries management and offshore wind. In my free time, I love to explore Maine by bike, on skis, or on the water, bake bagels, eat ice cream, and watch a good sunset. After serving on SGA previously for two years, I am so excited to be back and find ways to make our senior year engaging, meaningful, and fun. You can frequently find me in Diamond or hanging out in Foss, so please say hi! I can’t wait to work with all of you!

Senator: Georgia Freeland

My name is Georgia Freeland and I am one of the Class of ’22 Senators. I am majoring in Psychology with a minor in Managerial Economics. Some of the things I am involved with on campus include: Club Ski member, Colby Surf Member, and Mediocre Member. The reason I wanted to be on SGA was to voice concerns about the disconnect on the Colby Campus regarding social culture. There are so many amazing people on this campus, so I want to ensure that Colby has the atmosphere to let everyone get the chance to meet one another. So excited for this upcoming year. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Always down to grab a cup of coffee.

Co-President: Bibatshu Thapa Chhetri

Hi everyone, I am Bibatshu, and I represent myself from a small valley between the mountains of Nepal. Just to address a small FAQ and also drop a fun fact about me: No, I haven’t climbed Everest yet. Some day, I do plan to summit it, though! (maybe JanPlan tour for Colby?). Before coming to Colby, I took a gap year, and during that time I had the opportunity to work with institutions like the US Embassy (Fulbright Commission) in Nepal, a British startup company what3words, and a UNESCO world heritage royal palace. At Colby, I plan to use these global experiences to create an amazing experience for all of us—the members of class of 2025 & beyond. There’s no better place than the SGA for this opportunity! I’m really excited to be your class president, and I will give my 100% to serve the students up to the belief that they had on me!!

As a new SGA member, I will complete all my campaign promises and make sure that the student experience is what we all came here for. Additionally, I will listen with open ears to all issues impacting our class and act on them accordingly to the best of my ability.

Senator: Julia Walsh

Hey everyone! My name is Julia Walsh and I’m from Glastonbury, Connecticut. On campus I am involved in SGA as a 2025 class senator, the acapella group Mayflower Chill, and the college choir Collegium. I’m hoping to be a History major with a Classical Civ minor, but at the moment, I am chronically undecided. This year, I’m looking forward to working with the Class of 2025’s President’s Council and SGA on on-campus sustainability, water accessibility, and fostering community at Colby.
